Estimate quarterly IFTA fuel tax by jurisdiction — enter miles driven and gallons purchased per state, and see where you owe or get credited.
Rates are approximate diesel figures for illustration — IFTA rates change quarterly and vary by fuel type. Verify at iftach.org before filing.
PRIME tracks fuel entries and mileage per vehicle all quarter — your IFTA report is a one-click export, not a weekend project.
The International Fuel Tax Agreement covers carriers operating qualified motor vehicles (typically over 26,000 lbs GVWR or 3+ axles) across two or more member jurisdictions — the 48 contiguous US states and 10 Canadian provinces. You file one quarterly report with your base state instead of buying fuel permits per state.
Divide total miles by total gallons to get fleet MPG. For each jurisdiction, miles driven ÷ fleet MPG = gallons used there. Multiply gallons used by that jurisdiction's tax rate, subtract tax already paid at the pump, and the difference is what you owe (or get credited).
Per-trip mileage by state (GPS or driver trip logs) and fuel receipts showing gallons purchased per jurisdiction. Audits go back 4 years, so keep originals — estimates and reconstructed logs are the first thing auditors challenge.
Quarterly: April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31. Late filings accrue interest and penalties, and repeated delinquency can suspend your IFTA license — which effectively grounds interstate trucks.
