Using it well

  • Do the inspection before the first trip of the day — FMCSA expects a pre-trip check, and NEMT brokers often require it contractually.
  • A failed item means the vehicle doesn't roll until it's fixed or cleared. "Safe to operate?" is the line that protects you.
  • Keep completed forms for at least 90 days — longer if your state or broker contract requires it.
